Save hikers from drowning

May I applaud Central and Western District councillor Man Chi-wah's stance of making pedestrian safety paramount ("Obsession with fences a barrier to beauty, say hikers", June 7th). The total lack of past casualties clearly indicates that this is a risk to take seriously. Can I point out that there have also been no reports of drowning on this road, can Man Chi-wah reassure us that he will also ensure that lifebelts are hung from these railings at regular intervals?
