Halloween is Living Culture

Tim Storey (Letters, 31 Oct) is correct, Halloween has changed over the centuries, from being a pagan celebration related to the annual agricultural cycle of life and death, through reinterpretation to make it more acceptable to Christian thinking, to more recent commercialisation. I intend to celebrate my rich and developing cultural heritage by having scary fun with my kids, and perhaps we can learn some important lessons: not everything is what it seems, believing something does not make it real, and we can overcome our fears to succeed.
