Re: Electioneers overlook English-speaking vote

I have had similar, disappointing experiences to B. Ivarsson (letters, 11 Oct.) of the lack of election information in a language I understand. I usually ask for an English copy of the leaflet, and, when there is someone who can explain, the reason is generally that the party has too few resources to do a translation. Even a less-than-perfect translation would be better than nothing, so, if 5% of voters cannot read Chinese, why not allocate one-twentieth of the leaflet-writing time to translation? Any voter is likely to respond well if they see a candidate willing to address their needs.
